TOEFL sample: Films can tell us a lot about the country where they were made

Dear teachers,
Could you please someone correct this?
Thanks a lot!

Films can tell us a lot about the country where they were made. What have you learned about a country from watching its movies? Use specific examples and details to support your response.

We can learn many things about world around us watching movies. Even though the people are not that much different in appearance and intentions, they have different cultures and religions, life styles and languages. We can not go every where around the world to see these diversity through our naked eye, but we can see and learn them through movies.

There are lot of cultures and religions around the world. Even in a same country we can see many discriminations in religion and as well as culture. They have different traditions. When a movie were made up in a certain country it shows us a culture and religious views which related to a certain character. For instance how they have bond to their parents, their traditional views of society, what are the functions they have etc. Indeed we can get some idea about the culture of the country which the characters of the film belong.

We also can see the life style of the country. What are the facilities they have, how their houses made of, what are they doing for living, how they enjoy, and what are they eating. While enjoying the film we can easily take a look at their life style.
Further, there are lot of languages in different states in a certain country and different countries. We would not be able get any idea how they differentiate from ours, if we do not listen them. Easiest way to learn to speak a language is by listening and movies is the best source to listen. In advance, we can learn about the languages that people use in different countries.

Summing up, we can not only enjoy watching a movies but also we can sharp our knowledge about different cultures, life styles, and languages where they were made.

Films can tell us a lot about the country (in which) they were made. What have you learned about a country from watching its movies? Use specific examples and details to support your response.

We can learn many things about (the) world around us (simply by) watching movies. Even though people are not that much different in appearance and intentions, they have different cultures and religions, life styles and languages. We (cannot) go (everywhere) around the world to see these diversities (with) our naked eye(s), but we can see and learn (about) them through (the medium of) movies.

There are lot(s) of cultures and religions around the world. Even in (the) same country we can see many (differences) in religion as well as culture.
They (all) have different traditions.

When a movie (is) made in a certain country it shows us (cultural) and religious views which (are) related to a certain character.
For instance, how they have (bonded with) their parents, their traditional views of society, and the functions (that) they have etc.
Indeed we can get some idea about the culture of the country (to) which the characters of the film belong.

We also can see the life style of the country. What facilities they have, (what) their houses (are) made of, what they are doing (in their daily lives), how they enjoy (themselves) and what they eat. While enjoying the film we can easily (obtain an insight into) their life styles.

Furthermore, there are lots of languages and different countries. We would not be able (to) get any idea how theirs (differs) from (our own) if we (did) not listen (to) them.
(The) easiest way to learn to speak a language is by listening, and movies (are) the best source (of) listen(ing).
In (addition), we can learn about the languages that people use in different countries.

Summing up, we (cannot) only enjoy watching a movie, but also we can (also) (increase) our knowledge about different cultures, life styles, and languages (by knowing) where they were made.

Hi Richard,  You won’t be losing me. I’ve been so damned busy lately, what with helping friends doing their home improvements and such.

Anyway, things seem to have calmed down a little now, so I’ll be checking a few essays and what have you.

I think Yamilet is busy with her new projects, and Tom is studying hard for his exams. Both good people and both a credit to this Forum.

I’ll get round to checking your essay as soon as you have finished it to your own satisfaction.

Take care my friend, Bill.
