The more children grow up, the more difficulty they have to deal with. To make their children’s life easier, some parents think that they and other adult relatives should make important decisions for their older teenaged children. But in my opinion, children should themselves make decisions in their life. There are so many reasons for my opinion but, in limited length, my opinion should be supported by some main reasons below:
First of all, although older teenaged children are still called “children”, they are 15 to 18 years old at all so I think they are old enough to have their decisions in their life. Children themselves should decide about their school, job and life in the future because they are the only who understand most about themselves.
Secondly, making decision is one of the most important life skills that children should have as soon as possible. The age between 15 and 18 is very appropriate for the children to practice the life skill by making decisions by themselves. It is will certainly be useful for them to get through the difficulty in the future and to survive in the changing and complex world where hesitating people will be dismissed.
Finally, we must admit that the parents and the adult are not always true if we don’t say that sometimes they are wrong completely. Children, especially older teenaged children should not be independent on their parents too much but it is necessary if they get a little advice from their parents as well as other adult relatives. They will have decisions correctly and easily.
One more time, I am sure that older teenaged children themselves should make the decision in their life.
