1: “Today, I went to school by car.” OR “Today, I went to school by a car.”

2: “Everyone wants to be respected.” Correct?

3: “Respect and be respected.” Correct?

Hi Untaught,

Today, I went to school by car’. (‘By’ modifies the noun so that the indefinite article isn’t used. Compare it with the non-modified ‘Today, I went to school in a car’.

2 and 3 are correct.
