to peer over the horizon

I read a sentence like this “You are the kind of person who loves to peer over the horizon”

I wonder if someone could elaborate that phrase “peer over the horizon” and might as well give me a full detail of explanation.

My best regards

“peer over the horizon” = look intently over the horizon into something yonder in the sky.

Most likely the expression was used figuratively.

I would interpret the literal meaning of the expression ‘peer over the horizon’ to be ‘see (what is) beyond the horizon’. Of course, it is not possible to see what it beyond the horizon. Thus, a person who peers over/beyond the horizon would be seeing or trying to see what normally cannot be seen – to see what is beyond the limit of his/her vision. The figurative meaning of the phrase might be something similar to ‘predict or see into the future’.

Thus, the author of your sentence seems to be saying that you are the type of person who loves to look beyond what is readily visible. Perhaps the author means that you are a bit of a visionary.

Wow I see, it makes sense. At first I thought the horizon interpreting one’ knowledge of the world therefore to peer over means to undertstand something beyond your knowledge. But human’s knowledges are like a drop of water in the sea, so that would just be impossible. Thank you I understand now
