To Hold

Hello.

Could someone be so kind as to clarify me whether is more correct to use “in” or “on” before to hold??

Example:
the documents will be kept/maintained IN HOLD, or ON HOLD…

Thanks a lot

Davide

In that context, ‘on’ is the appropriate preposition, though it is simpler to say:
The documents will be held…

Thanks a lot for your explanation.
