To hold tight or tightly

Well,I know that tight is an adj and tightly ia an adv but in films and songs I often hear the expression “hold me tight”.Ihave never heard the verb “hold” to be used as a link verb.Is it correct?

One of the accepted uses of the word ‘tight’ is as an adverb.
