What is the meaning of “those whom” in the following extract.

…to carry with us those whom the burden of past years has disheartened or overborne.

Also explain me what the above one means.

…to carry with us those (people) whom the burden of past years has disheartened or overborne.

In other words, somebody wants to carry with them some people that have been disheartened by the burden of past years.
