Do we need definite article ‘the’ here?
Which is grammatically correct:
13_1: This is where you connect programming blocks to create scripts.
13_2: This is where you connect the programming blocks to create scripts.

To me, it looks as follows:
-
The noun phrases used in your first sentence are general. So, “This is where you connect programming blocks to create scripts.” is correct.
-
However, if you want them to be specific, “This is where you connect the programming blocks to create the scripts.” should be acceptable.

This is like applying grammar to graphics instead of words. As Anglophile said, it can be either general or specific.
I think either one is OK, but I think the might be slightly more appropriate. I assume it references programming blocks that are shown elsewhere in the graphic. When using words instead of graphics, if something has been previously mentioned, then the definite article is normally used.
