"This is" and "it is"

Hello everybody!

Could you explain me the difference between “this is” and “it is” please? Isn’t it the same thing?

Thank you in advance

Sometimes it is (but not in the phrase I just used!).

This is = the object here

It is = the object under discussion, regardless of where it is.

This is my car. It is the fastest car what I have ever used it.

You need ‘that’ not ‘what’ there.

Thanks very much to everyone ))

this => near

it => far

‘it is’ does not have to indicate something far away.
