the pronounciation

Hi everybody
May be a little odd, but when pronounced “ice” and “eyes”, they are just the same
If You have only the expresion “ice eyes” how can You figure out what this means ?

They are similar but they don’t sound quite the same. It’s just that your ears aren’t attuned enough to the sounds to hear the difference yet).

‘Ice’ ends in a hissing sound /aɪs/. ‘Eyes’ ends in a buzzing sound /aɪz/.

Where words do sound the same when listening or look the same when reading, you just have to apply common sense and consider the wider context.

By the way, it is only the pronoun ‘I’ that is always written with a capital letter. ‘You’ only needs to be capitalised if it starts a sentence.

Thank “you” for the answer. I have more questions but I`ll put them one by one on the Forum
Have a sunny Sunday !

Hi Mike1,

Why have you written ‘you’ inside inverted commas?

It was just habit. So we put quotes in Romanian
I will be more careful in the future.
Thanks

That wasn’t a quote, which is why I wondered.

Hi Mike, please note the correct spelling of the word ‘pronunciation’.[YSaerTTEW443543]
