The present participle can be used to describe the following verbs: come, go, sit

Dear Friends,

The present participle can be used to describe the following verbs:

come, go, sit

Example: The girl sat crying on the sofa.
The boy came with me to the concert.
Mr Smith went alone to the station.

How can we use a past tense in a present participle (a word like Sat,Came, and went)

Sorry, but I don’t see how any participle is involved in your examples #2 and #3. Nor do I understand what you wish to do with present participles and the past tense.

Hi Gerald,

I assume you want to use a past tense with a participle. You could say (as in your example)

The boy came running with me to the concert.

Mr Smith went strolling alone to the station.
