know if you?ve been drinking more
alcohol than it?s allowed to?

That’s probably the meaning, Jes?s. And such a breath test is done using a device called a breathalyzer:

I think there are medical breath tests for other things as well, however the breath test for alcohol is certainly the most well-known (and probably most often done . :roll: )
