Hi,
When I mention about the year 2008,2009,2010, I wonder that “the latest 3 years” or " the 3 latest years" which phrase is correct? Could you please help me.
Thanks a lot.

Not really. It is not so easy to lump this year (2010) with the last two years (2008, 2009).
Yes. When you say the last three years, you mean 2007, 2008, 2009. I guess if you want to include this year, at least you’ll have to wait till the end of the year.
So what is the difference between “the latest 3 years” and “the last 3 years”? and is there any way to name the 3 years 2008,2009 and 2010 at this time.
I don’t know. There’s no expression like the latest three years, I think. As sir Mister said, it’s not easy to include this year with the last 2 years.
I would say ‘over the three year period from 2008 to the present’
…which takes us from September 2008 to September 2010 ?
Pedantically, yes.
On reflection, ‘3 year period’ would be redundant anyway.
I would like to claim an amendment to my earlier statement.
Over the period from (month) 2008 to the present.
Oh my God. It sounds complicated.
That’s what I said: it’s not easy. It’s like trying to ask what number president Barack Obama is.
(But don’t capitalize ‘God’ in that expression; it can offend some. Use the single-word euphemism-- sort of-- ‘omigod’.)
No more complicated than any other English phrase, Bookaholic… and you’ve mastered quite a few to date.
‘… to date’ = from the period when you first heard any English to the present time.
Omigod! You meant I’d mastered many complicated English phrases? I’ve never realised that! But one thing I’m sure is that children interrupt their education to go to school! This is an expression from one of my exercises, which I had many difficulties understanding. But now I know it says schooling is not everything and that education means much more than just schooling.
I mean it’s my responsibility to learn non-stop!
