I was doing the ironing and burnt my shirt. Correct?
The iron burnt my shirt. Correct?

I would not indicate that the iron did the burning.

Rather than ‘the iron burnt my shirt’, I would advise ‘I burnt my shirt with the iron.’

Alternatively, ‘the iron was too hot and I burnt my shirt’.
