Hello dear Alan and Torsten!
Tell me, please: Is it the same
She is out to make a record
She is about to make a record
She is going to make a record
Many thanks

Hi Pioneer,
The expressions ‘about to’ and ‘going to’ are almost the same as in this sentence: The sky is very dark and I’m sure it’s about to/going to snow - in other words it probably will snow.
‘Out to’ means determined to - going to do something and will not be stopped as in this sentence: She wanted to get the job very much and did everything she could to show how suitable she was in fact at the interview she was out to prove she was the best candidate.
