The difference between each and every

Hi,

I’m sure there is a difference in meaning. Here are my examples

  • Every day I get more and more scared of Covid.
  • Three years ago I was in hospital and each day I was there I got more and more depressed.

Could you explain @Alan, @Anglophile, @Arinker, @NearlyNapping, @Torsten?

Thank you.

To me, each, every, and each and every are almost the same.
It sounds as though each is more distributive than every while each and every is more emphatic than each or every.
Let’s wait and see what the others say.

I think that ‘every’’ is used in a general sense and ‘each’ in a specific sense. Example -

Every week I visit my old aunt and each time I go without fail she insists on giving me my favourite biscuits.
Hope that helps
