Thanks in advance or thanks ahead or...?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone could help with the sentences above. I keep seeing different ways of thanking at the bottom of emails and letters. Since I’ve been told both that thanks in advance is wrong and that it’s right, I don’t know how to go about it anymore.
Does it have a particular connotation?
Thanks in advance???

All I can say is that I have it on good authority that “thanks in advance” is a perfectly normal expression.

If you need more confirmation, look at Yankee’s post: Thanks in advance VERSUS Thanks beforehand

That’s all I needed to hear.
