We might say something like “a big ugly fuss”, but “such a fuss” is such an easy way to say it.

We can’t talk about “fuss” without bringing up fussbudget. Lucy Van Pelt is a well known fussbudget.

I think I’ve heard of “fusspot”, but I believe “fussbudget” is much more used here as a result of Lucy in the Peanuts comic strip.

Torsten, to be very specific, such is a pre-determiner like all and half in the following sentences:

  • All the students were present.
  • Half the cake was served to them.
