standing in/on/at the porch

Hi,

I wonder which of the following is correct?

She’s standing in/on/at the porch of my house.

Thanks.

Exactly, on is correct.

I explain more the using of stand as below:

To be on your feet; to be in a vertical position.
E.g: A bird standing on one leg.

To be at a particular level, amount, height, etc.
E.g: Interest rates stand at 3%.
The world record then stood at 6.59 metres.

To be in a particular place
E.g: The train standing at platform 3 is for London, Victoria.

To be situated or located.
E.g: The house stands in the square

To be or exist in a specified state or condition.
E.g: To stand in awe of someone.

To be in a specified position.
E.g: He stands high in the president’s favor.

Other examples:
-Standing In The Rain.
-Standing On Top Of The World.
-Standing at the Edge of the Earth.

‘in’ or ‘at’ might be correct Rickrocky.

She is standing in the porch… inside it, under its roof.
She is standing at the porch… outside it, just beyond the roof’s shelter.

  • Palabattle, your information is only partly correct and your definitions of stand are not relevant here.

Yeah, Mr. Beeesneees. Just because I have a little bit doubt about “the porch” and the point of view from speaker.

hi, thanks to you all.
