Normally:

Did not = Didn’t

So, please read:

He [color=darkblue]dared not spend the money lest someone should ask where he had got it.

dared not =?

Please help me.

Hi Quoc

Dared not is a special construction and as such is not contracted.

A “standard” construction with contraction would be:

He didn’t dare spend the money …
