someone that/who

Hello,

in one of my books, I found information that after indefinite pronouns in relative clauses we use that, but not who…is it true?

example:

We need someone that can speak good English.

but how about

We need someone who can speak good English.?

Thank you.

I would prefer the ‘who’ option when speaking about people.

Hello, Marionetta!
Dear Beeesnesss, can I add something to your above-mentioned comment, If I am mistaken, please correct me…

When speaking about people, both “who” and “that” are possible. The former is more formal, while the latter is more informal.

Am I right?..
