Some university require students to take classes in many subjects. Some require them specialize in one subject. In my opinion, I prefer to specialize in one subject. It brings more benefits to students.

It will be more difficult for them to maintain good grades in every exam. For example, when I was in the college, I was major in education and took extra classes in the art department. However, I had a lot of portraits and paintings as homework. Thus, I had to spend two hours on them every day. In a long run, I lost time to prepare my major subject and got bad grades in the final exam.
In addition, students can have a deeper understanding in one subject and get well prepared for a career. Most of the companies are looking for talents who possess a specific ability or the profound profession in certain field. Therefore, as long as we become more professional in one subject, we will have more chances to find a better job. To be more specific, my friend, Amy, who devoted much time in biological researches and received a lot of certificates in the university. Because of her profession and achievements, she is an engineering in a bio-tech company now.
