In recent years the Internet has become a popular search engine for many people due to its different kinds and numerous information. It has wide-spread all around the world. Although it accommodates information, it can lead to many disadvantages.
Because of the various information on the Internet, there are many sites. While some of them have an age limit, many sites do not; hence children can reach out to unprophetic information that can cause them to have mental breakdowns. This condition can affect children’s lives in a way that their parents cannot fix. Thus, many end up being unsocial, anxious, toxic persons, and if they are lucky enough, their parents will recognize that there is something wrong and make them take professional help. It is almost impossible for parents to keep their children away from harmful content because there are so many. The best way they can prevent them from children is because the Internet cybersecurity should check each page carefully, and if they found a harmful and limited site, they can sue them. This way, the toxic content can be prevented.
The second disadvantage is that people look through the Internet because they want to learn or find information that they are curious about a subject. Furthermore, they do this without knowing what they are going to find. Thus, they will come across much information and points of view that they will get confused, and in the end, it is so possible for them to end up with the wrong answers. For instance, a person who believes in Islam and wants to learn about Christianity will search it on the Internet as many people. Entering a site that describes Christianity all wrong will give the person false knowledge. This happens because they cannot distinguish the right answer. Consequently, the Internet’s numerous information is unbeneficial for people who want to find correct explanations to their questions.
To sum up, I agree with the idea that too much information on the Internet problematizes people. I believe that children can be affected by harmful content because many sites do not limit their content; furthermore, it is unbeneficial for learners because too much content makes them confuse about which explanation is right and wrong.
