Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.
A university is an institution of higher education and research, which grants academic degrees in variety of subjects. Even though a university is a place for gaining knowledge, the benefits are not granted for the student. It depends on their enthusiasms and hard work. In fact, students tend to be more competitive and active in the beginning of the semester. Eventually, they become lazy and sluggard. Hence, I strongly believe that university students should be required to attend classes.
First and foremost, a non-optional system will guarantee the attendance of all the students on time. So, they will learn to be responsible and organized. In order to get high scores they have to get up from their sleep and attend their classes. This strategy is like a push up move for the student. Even if they were lazy they will fight to restore the energy in order to attend classes. In contrast, optional system may encourage the students to be unorganized and irresponsible. For example, many students may postpone their homework’s because they knew that attending classes is not necessary.
Second, this system allows the teachers to recognize the weakness point in their students and help them to overcome the difficulties by offering their advices. Beside that, student will be able to ask any questions during the class. When the teachers answer any questions in the classes other students will be able to give their opinion and discuss it with them. Somehow, sharing information’s and school issues is beneficial for students. The more information’s they get from classes the more they become aware of their mistakes.
Finally, although waking up in the morning to attend classes is hard thing to do, yet, knowing the advantages of it will make it easier for the students. As they always say ‘No pain, No gain’.
