Some famous athletes and entertainers earn millions of dollars every year. Do you think these people deserve such high salaries? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
I totally agree with the claim that famous athletes and celebrities are being overpaid. My reasons and examples listed below will strengthen my point of view.
In the first place, many ordinary people try hard to achieve success, but they never earn huge amounts of money. To illustrate this fact, I would like to compare a famous athlete with a successful teacher. An athlete can earn huge amounts of money after taking risks, and going through intense training for hours. An elementary teacher also tries his level best to achieve success. He needs to have academic skills, update himself, teach the same course every year, try to understand each and every student’s needs, know his students’ strengths, and improve their weaknesses. The teacher is putting so much effort, but why does an athlete deserve to earn more money every year? Do you think an athlete is as educated as a teacher? I think that it is not fair to ignore the values of a teacher.
Secondly, another reason why famous athletes and entertainers earn huge amounts of money is because of the people. I have seen many people unwilling to spend their money on their health. For instance, when they go to a supermarket, they first look at the product’s price instead of paying more attention to its ingredients. If the product is costly, they keep it in its place, and try to find a cheaper one. In addition, there are many people who waste a lot of energy and time haggling over the price of an item. Surprisingly, if you ask these people to spend money on a ticket for a live concert, they will do it without even a slight hesitation.
To put all in a nutshell, based on the above discussion, celebrities and famous athletes are being overpaid, since people are underestimating the values of other professions.
