slow the pace of store openings

Hello,

Could somebody tell me what the highlighted part of the sentence below means?

Starbucks is planning to close 100 U.S. stores, pull breakfast sandwiches from its menu and slow the pace of store openings. (taken from the CNN.news)

Personally, I think it means that Starbucks plans to stall its expansion plans, but Iā€™m not really sure if I get it right.

Thanks in advance.

You are right. It means that Starbucks is going to reduce the rate at which new stores are opened, (say) 25 a year instead of 50 a year.

Thanks Cerberus
