Shirley shared that/how she was able to remain calm despite being diagnosed with a lump on her chest.

Which is the correct word? if neither word is correct, what is the correct word?

I think both are correct depending on what you want to say.

Here Shirely shares the fact that she was able to remain calm.

Here Shirely, shares the method that allowed her to keep calm.

With ‘share’ in that context you could not use ‘how’ but you could express the same idea with - Shared the way in which …You would need to develop the sentence further with ‘that’ by putting another noun in apposition as in -

Shared the fact that …
