Serious movies or entertaining movies?

Some movies are serious, designed to make the audience think. Other movies are designed primarily to amuse and entertain. Which type of movie do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Most of my friends prefer entertaining movies to serious ones for the relaxation they can have. Apart from them, I always try to find meaningful movies to watch. To me, serious movies which aim at people’s reasoning are more valuable than those designed for the purpose of amusement. My argument will be explained and exemplified with the two following points.

The first and most pivotal reason why I prefer serious movies is that those products contain numerous lessons about the real life. For instance, “Milk” is a famous film in which a part of the process of achieving human rights, in term of sexual orientation, in politics in the United States was captured. The movie won some international prestigious prizes for the message it delivered, that every person has the right to vote or to self-nominate regardless of their sexual orientation. I doubt that is there any entertaining movies could carry out this task as successful as this kind of movie did?

The other reason for my preference is that the manner of the actors in the serious movies is more emotional than that in the entertaining movies. In the former kind of movies, it is the duty of the actors to deliberate exactly the feelings of the characters and put them in the scenes. As a result, audiences are able to catch the thought of the author naturally and completely. In the contrary, actor’s expressions in entertaining movies are often seen exaggerated. After watching “Away from her”, an Oscar winner for the best performance of leading actress, I couldn’t erase the feeling of sympathy with the main character’s love.

In overall, those movies that target at the audience’s perception and endeavor to make them admired are the so worth to watch. They not only embody a thoughtful message, but also contain an impressive art of expression. For these reasons, I always make serious movies my persuasive choice.

Good morning Hoale. I think this was a more difficult topic than it first appeared to be.
You did well to attempt it, but I was left with the feeling of your dissatisfaction with your work.

Good morning Mr Kitos.
I should have kept it simple, shouldn’t I?
Maybe the problem is that sometimes I try to add some complicated words which seem to be inappropriate. I will write another essay on this topic. Hope I can do better.
By the way, your name in the signature sounds really cute! LOL.
Thank you Mr Kitos
