Sentence: This would rather be an interactive session than a training session.

Is this correct sentence, please let me know:

This would rather be an interactive session than a training session.

I would say “This would be an interactive session rather than a training session.”

Thanks Luschen!

Do you think the sentence is not at all English and is horrible.

“This would rather be an interactive session than a training session.” is not horrible, it just sounds odd because it is implying that the session itself would prefer to be an interactive session.

This is because the sentence is in the same format as:

“I would rather be a doctor than a plumber.”

The session itself cannot have a preference, but if you have one, you could say:

“I would rather this be an interactive session than a training session.”

This sentence has a different meaning than my first one.

Thanks a lot for your time Luschen!
I initially did not understand whether it is very bad English, or some sort of sentence framing correction. It is very clear now!
