Probably ‘strut’ would be most appropriate when describing a ‘proud’ peacock as it suggests the idea of self importance. ‘Swagger’ is more readily used to describe people who walk in a certain way suggesting that they think they are very important and this kind of walk involves moving the body from side to side at the same time.
