Sentence: If it is okay to you guys, I will proceed further.

I am in India, working on a Software project. WE have status calls with our clients - U.S. or U.K, over the phone (via phone).

If there are 2-3 guys (Manager, Software Developers one Female, one Male) etc on the status call, can I say “If the time-line is okay to you guys, I will proceed further.”

You guys - I mean all of you ( gender-indepandant).
Is this fine?

thanks

It depends on their ages and outlook. Some women would object strongly to being referred to as a guy. I think it’s a sloppy moderanism. Why would you even need to add a noun there? You could just leave it as ‘… is okay to you, I will proceed.’ (‘Further’ isn’t needed either.)
If you want to use something to signify inclusion then I suggest ‘… is okay with all of you, I will proceed.’

Thanks for the reply!

Can I assume, “guy” only meant/refers to Male.
We should not use to refer to Female?

Thanks

Agreed! However, in some english (U.S.) movies, I saw one girl called other bunch of girls as - “Hey guys”.

Thanks!

Yip, sloppy modernism.

Thanks Anglophile and Beesneees!

To most of us in the 21 century, yes.

Possibly the lady would prefer ‘guys and dolls’ - but then maybe the lady wouldn’t want to be called ‘doll’?

How ridiculous it is of you to make such a comment! It’s an undisguised snipe, plain and simple.
