I can’t find any diagrams in the Internet representing the same “tree structure”- diagram- as this one.
btw, is this diagram correct??

Hi Michal,
Do you mean diagrams like these?[YSaerTTEW443543]
TOEIC short conversations: Summing up an interview[YSaerTTEW443543]
No, I mean a diagram as showed above. The connections between words and coonstituents from the linguistic point of view.
Michauek, you’ve got some mistakes. Everything depends on how much detail you’ve been taught to use, but there are some things that definitely need to be fixed.
First, the adjective in the subject noun phrase should be under an adjective phrase node that’s connected to the NP node. The AdjP node is needed, because the adjective can be modified by an adverb, just as the noun can be modified by an adjective.
You’re also violating this phrase structure rule:
S -> NP AUX VP
Your S consists of NP AUX NP. You have no verb phrase, and so the main verb “seen” is floating there connected to nothing.
I don’t know if you’re being taught to use a predicate phrase, so I won’t bring that up.
Thanks a lot ! Yes, I have spotted this mistake> there should be a Verb to make a sentence (verb “see”, in this example).
so if there is a possibility that sth can be modified by sth, a particular phrase must be closed by marking it as a phrase?
we don’t have to mark a predicate phrase.
btw, I hate this course. It’s like a nightmare
If you get deep enough into it, every major type of constituent has to have its own phrase, since they can all be modified by something. However, instead of writing AP for adjective phrase and NP for noun phrase, for example, you’ll end up writing A"’ A", A’ or N"", N"’, N", N’, depending on how many levels of modification it has.
You may hate that course, but the diagramming alone will surely help you immensely.
thank you for your help I’ll have to practise this
I’ll show you another one. I hope it’s correct, but if it’s not, please add your note. thanks !
