Hello!
Who can explain to me the meaning of these lyrics?
'Sometimes the river flows but nothing breathes/ A train arrives but never leaves/ It’s a shame./ Oh life- like love that walks out of the door/ Of being rich or being poor/ It’s a shame.
In the first verse do we have a metaphor? Is man whose life goes by compared with a river which flows but nothing breathes ?
Thank you for your time and support!
Here is my response to your other post:
Maybe metaphor and paradox. Are these lyrics from the song Search for a Hero? It sounds like the train represents that the person is at a dead end in their life and can see no way out, the river of their life is a dead place where “nothing breathes”.
Yes, I would say both the river and train are metaphors or symbols - I don’t think the song is about a real river and a real train.
