I would like to know if this sentence is correct:‘Say my greetings to your family.’
of course ‘send’ is more appropriate but does ‘say’ fit here or not?

Why not ‘Pass my greetings to your family’?

One of the popular expressions in this context could be -
Remember me to your parents/family.

Yes, that is also acceptable, at least to us, with an unambiguous meaning. But remember it is not our own language. We also need to listen to the ‘educated native users’. That does not mean that we should blindly accept what is not convincing or what is in utter contrariety to the grammar and usage our universities like the CIEFL are teaching us. Learners have to be conversant with the formal BrE for their career progression and success.
