Rewriting sentences?

Hi,

Could you please correct these sentences?

I’m trying to rewrite the following sentences, providing the appropriate modal without changing the original meaning of the sentences.

  1. It was not necessary for you to come in person. A phone call would have been enough.
  • You needn’t have come in person. A phone call would have been enough.
  1. It is not possible for her to write; she’s never been to school.
  • She can’t write; she’s never been to school.
  1. If I have been in your position, I wouldn’t have trusted him.
  • You shouldn’t have trusted him.
  1. The phone has been ringing several times, yet there is no reply. It is certain that Peter is out.
  • The phone has been ringing several times, yet there is no reply. Peter must be out.
  1. No matter how we complain to the neighbours, they always insist on disturbing us at night.
  • No matter how we complain to the neighbours, they will always disturb us at night.

Thank you so much.

The only one that doesn’t seem to quite match there is (4). The pair of sentences don’t seem to have quite the same meaning. I’d have made the change to the first phrase and written:
If I’d been you, I wouldn’t have trusted him.

  1. “It is not necessary for you to come in person. A phone call would have been enough.”
  2. “It is not necessary for you to come in person. A phone call will be enough.”
Are these two sentences OK? Do they mean the same?
  3. “No matter how many times we complain to the neighbours, they always continue to disturb us at night.”
    Is it OK?
  1. It was not necessary…
    The others are okay.

Thanks
