Repute/reproach

Hi,

Which sentences sound natural to a native speaker?

  1. His reputation is above reproach.
  2. His reputation is beyond reproach.
  3. His reputation is above repute.
  4. His reputation is beyond repute.

Thanks.

Hi,

‘Repute’ in 3 and 4 doesn’t really make sense because it means virtually the same as ‘reputation’.

Hi Alan,

Thank you for replying me!
What about 1 and 2, do they sound alright?

Thanks!

Yes.
