Rephrasing of words

Jeyaretnam’s 1.2%, and Lim’s 0.57%.

Since he got lower than 12.5% of the vote, Jeyaretnam forfeited his election deposit of S$14,500 under Singapore’s electoral rules.

Can “Jeyaretnam had his election deposit of $14,500 under Singapore’s a electoral rules” be used instead? Thanks.

The original is fine.

This is missing a word. If you mean “had forfeited “ you would be talking about some previous time, rather than the current election.
