"recall", "recollect" and "recount"?

Hi,

Is there any difference among “recall”, “recollect” and “recount”?

Many thanks
Nessie.

Hi Nessie

Have you checked a dictionary?

If you have, could you be more specific about where your confusion lies?
.

Hi Amy,

Sorry for my mistake about “recount” (It transparently has a different meaning compared with the other two :))
As for “recall” and “recollect”, I think they mean exactly the same (according to what I can understand from my dictionary), but I still want to ask for a native speaker’s idea

Many thanks
Nessie.

For me, “recall” suggests an effortless process; whereas “recollect” suggests a conscious effort.

I expect that it varies from speaker to speaker, though.
