Real difference between simple present and continuous

i am a new comer,as i don’t have any knowledge in english ,trying to ask some stupid doubts.
in daily usage what is the real difference between simple present and continues…
eg: i am saying you
i say you…
which is the best form?

Hi,

It would have to be: I am telling you and I tell you. the main difference is that the simple form usually describes something that is repeated and the continuous describes something that is happening now.

Here are two examples:

She always tells her children a story at bedtime.
She is telling them a story at the moment and they are listening very carefully.
