Hi

Could you please shed some light on the sentence from the Holy Bible?

You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted?

Does it mean:

You are the people with good qualities in the world. But if you lose your qualities, who will introduce ‘good qualities’ to you?

Hi Tom,

A serious thought indeed for a Saturday morning. Salt in the Biblical sense was highly valued above a lot of other precious minerals. Salt of the earth refers to good, solid and respectable ciizens - people you can rely on. The suggestion is that if that quality no longer has any value, how is it going to be revived? Taking it even more broadly - if the good people go, what hope is there for humanity?

Some thoughts
