Provide vs provides

I’m having trouble understanding this correction in the segmented sentence shown below…

…this new suite of products and provides businesses the ability to etc etc

My problem stems from the fact that the word provide(s) is plural. I thought since the subject (product and or services) are plural then the singular form is proper to use. Or, is this the rare instance when using the conjunction AND linking the tow particilples product and services then it is pluaralized?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Iaustin,

Welcome to english-test.net and many thanks for your question. The word “provides” is a verb and it’s in the Simple Present Tense. Also, your sentence should read … this new suite of products and services provides businesses…

Let me know what you think.
