Hi all,
I wanted to ask you about the proper pronounciation of the verb “to sew”. All my dictionaries give the transcription of /səʊ/ (= so), but one of them has a recording which sounds like /sju:/. So, are both pronounciations correct, or is there a mistake in the dictionary?
Thanks in advance.
sew is pronounced “so”
sow is pronounced “so” …unless it’s a female pig
so is pronounced “so”
…sue is pronounced /su:/
Does it mean that the pronounciation of /sju:/ is wrong?
I’ve never heard it pronounced otherwise than “so”; perhaps it ks pronounced like “sue” in some local accent?
Hello so and sew are homophones that rhyme with ‘hello’ and ‘snow’.[YSaerTTEW443543]
