Present or Past tense (part 2)

Hi all,

Let’s say I go to a particular website to check for a book’s price. How should I report this finding to a third party?

  1. The price of ABC book was $12.
  2. The price of ABC book is $12.

Many thanks.

Kit

  1. The price of ABC book was $12.
  2. The price of ABC book is $12.

Both. The price of a book is $12 dollars tells the third party that the current price is $12.
You may however also use the price of a book was $12. If the party asks you “what was the price of the book when you went to the bookstore” you may say, the price of the book was $12.

In general however book prices do not change and it is better to use 2.
