"point at" vs "point in"

Does “point at” and “point to” mean the same?

Here is what I find in the Longman Dictionary:

point at
I could see him pointing at me and telling the other guests what I had said.
point to/towards
She was pointing to a small boat that was approaching the shore.

=> so does it mean we use “at” for people and “to” for things"?
