How would translate the German term “Podestfläche”? A “Podest” is a podium or landing while “Fläche” can be translated as “surface”. So would “podest surface” make sense?
A Podest can be a landing. Sometimes it’s just a sort of step or raised area. Sometimes it’s a platform. Etc. I’d have to have the context to translate (or see a picture).
.
In your opinion, does the “Podestfläche” include only the gray tiled area at the bottom of the stairs/steps? In other words, does it exclude the steps? If so, I think you can call it a landing.
.
I don’t think it includes the steps, but ‘surface of the landing’ looks like a possible solution. I’d say ‘surface of the dais’ comes close to what you’re looking for, or simply ‘platform surface’.
Yes, the “Podestfläche” excludes the steps, so it’s only the tiled area at the bottom of the steps. Would you agree with Ralf’s suggestion? (“landing surface”)
