Please help, stuck on SAT!

i admit that i hate the 4 hour new SAT. it is just tooo boring for me. i have gotten 4 800’s on SAT II( chinese, math, chemistry and biology) that show that i do not lack the ability to perform well, i just hate the boring test. my scores range from 1800 to 1960 and my goal is 2200+. My weakness is partly from vocabulary, partly from long passage reading and partly from section 1(essay). does any1 have ANYTHING that may help me. that would include affordable classes, good ways of studying or maybe some websites or online courses. PS do online courses like princeton review help? thank you

Hey I was doing just as bad on my SAT’s. I paid for an $899 course from Kaplan and it didn’t help me at all. I found an online guide written by two students who aced the SAT. I was able to improve my scores by 250+ pts and was able to get a 2230 on the SAT. The best part is I only paid $10 for the guide. I got it at www.tutorfox.com

well my friend, i can easily realize your weakness. I faced the problem of long passage reading as well but if you want to get over it, you need to read newspapers and novels or plays by known authors…When you read newspaper, focus on vocabulary and critical reading, similarly when u read a book, focus on it well…when you are watching a movie, focus on dialogues and take out the words which you do not know. Start talking english in a literal way and thats how you can really do smtg great in english…

I know this might seem really simple and silly, but do you read for pleasure much? I think just reading more might help train your brain to concentrate. Try spending an hour or two each day just reading. I think it could really pay off!

Hi all! I found something better than $10. practicethesat.com does not charge anything at all and they have pretty good questions and explanations after you are done. They also have a weekly scheduled test where they give out a prize to the top scorer. If you ask me that’s awesome. You can learn and make some green at the same time.

I agree with several of the other posts: those big names tutoring agencies are overpriced, primarily because you end up paying for all that awesome marketing they do. I went with LA Tutors 123 I got it at Los Angeles Tutoring and they actually set me up with a former Kaplan tutor, who taught me one-on-one the same stuff I would have paid 5x as much to learn in a class of 30. Amazing deal!

Robert, you are right practicethesat.com has helped me a lot; i have seen a big improvement in my score and the fact that they don’t charge anything helps too
