I would very much like to know if I can use “Please, don’t!” phrase in the following case (can I use it at all in any case?):

I say to a person: “Are you sorry? Please don’t!”

Can I use it like this? Or can I only use it if the first sentence contains “do”?

“Are you sorry? Please don’t be!” is possible in the right context.

You can say “Are you ~ing? Please don’t!” with a wide variety of verbs.
