Please correct my translation.

Hi everyone,

I was helping a guy to translate a short paragraph of Chinese into English on another forum and below is my translation. Could you please correct my translation if there’re any mistakes? Please let me know if it makes sense to you. Thanks in advance.

Nowadays, there is barely anyone doubting that we are inching toward the era of the globalized economy. Despite the fact that it has yet to come, the trend of globalization is irresistible. Nevertheless, tracing back to the history, it shows us that things are not always going off without a hitch. The last time when we tried to achieve the globalization of economy, our efforts were first ruined by the World War I then by the severe economic recession. How many chances do we have to pull it off this time? That largely depends on how many lessons we have drawn from the history.

You have done an excellent job. May I most respectfully suggest a few minor changes?

(1) there is barely anyone WHO DOUBTS that.
(2) the era of A globalized economy.
(3) tracing back to history (no “the”).
(4) things DO NOT ALWAYS GO OFF WITHOUT A HITCH.
(5) the last time THAT we tried.
(6) by World War I (no “the”) AND then.
(7) drawn from history (no “the”).

These changes are ONLY my opinion. I do NOT claim that they are necessarily correct.

Thank you very very much for taking time to correct it for me, James M.

I thank YOU for your kind note.
