The key answer gives me as the correct solution ‘helping’.Is that correct?It sounds to me awkward.I would say ‘-Would you mind if I asked for a second dish of cheesecake?It’s delicious.’

well, helping is a single portion of food taken at a meal… it’s not that awkward.
