People listen to music for different reasons and at different times. Why is music

Thank you very much in advance

People listen to music for different reasons and at different times. Why is music
important to many people?

Listening to music almost concerns everybody. In these days music even became a
part of most people’s lifes. But why has music become so important for us?

First of all music traces us through the whole day. It is a unconscious distraction
from daily happenings or actions. Radio alarmclocks for instance wake us up in the
morning or radios, as a fixed part of our cars, help us not to get enoyed while driving
a car. In addition music can have a motivational function. Twice a week I go jogging
and I always listen to music during my walk because it gives me more power or at
least seems to give me more power. Other people like to listen to music while they
are learning for school or university.

Another kind of reason for listening to music might be being a fan of an artist or a
music group. A contemporary example would be “Tokio Hotel” a music group that has
a uncredible loyal amount of fans. These fans listen to the music of “Tokio Hotel”
because they love the artists. Admittedly music can be heard and loved for the sake
of music, too. Classical music is a good example in this case as it is normally heard to
enjoy the harmonic sounds and to calm down and relax.

Finally music plays a big role at special events. About six weeks before Christmas
most of the radio programms tend to play almost only Chirstmas songs. When we
listen to one of these songs we instantly know that it is a Chirstmas song as several
of these songs are of course part of Christmas tradition and therefore of our culture,
too.

To draw a conclusion music is a part not only of our lifes but also of our culture and
our traditions. We listen to music consciously - when we dance to music - or without
realizing it - during a shopping trip at a store. Living without musiv is hardly
unimaginable.
